W
E L C O M E!
Analysts
of international tourism trends, are in agreement as rarely before in
their assessment: Croatia was the most sought after Mediterranean tourism
destination in
last year! Furthermore, the same “fate” has been forecast for
this year and the next years to come. The evaluation that Croatia is a
country of preserved and exceptionally beautiful nature in the very heart
of Europe is backed by yet another argument: a network of modern roads
which has brought the Croatian tourism centres significantly closer to
tourists and consistent investments in the quality and content of what
Croatian tourism has to offer.
The assessment was that in 2003, with a
growth rate which bravely went against the world recession, Croatia was
the surprise hit destination on the Mediterranean!
Let’s take a look at what the statistics say.
During
2004,
8. 845.724 guests visited Croatia.
12.868 of these came from Finland. The
number of foreign tourists, totalling
7.602.153
marks a
6
% increase over last year. To
date, 47.454.063 overnight stays
have been recorded, representing an increase of
2
% in comparison to the previous year.
There is
virtually no tourism facility or town in Croatia that has not
significantly invested in quality and in constructing new tourism
facilities. Increasing service standards, enriching content, improving
staff professionalism and a new tourism philosophy both nationally and
among tourism destinations have altered the image of what is offered and
are uncovering hosts who have less in common with the former image. If one
adds the popularity of the pearl of the Mediterranean, Dubrovnik, which
many have proclaimed to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, the
beauty of the Brijuni and Kornati archipelagos, the islands of Hvar and
many other destinations along the coast and in the continental regions of
Croatia – then it is certain that the popularity of Croatia in both
leisure and business tourism is no coincidence. Furthermore, there are
very good reasons for this!
