Increase of Danish tourists in
Croatia
The amount of Danish
tourists in Croatia has increased by 64 percent in one year. And the Croatian
tourist office estimates that the number will double in 2002. Today, most of
the Danish tourists go to Croatia by car or bus. In 2002 Mannon Rejser starts
to offer charter trips to Dubrovnik. This will make it easier for those who
prefer to go by plane. During January-November
2001, 7.2 million tourists visited Croatia. 19 271 of these came from
Denmark. The corresponding figure for the year 2000 counted to 12 253. It
means that the amount of Danish tourists going to Croatia has increased by 64
percent in one year. Most Danish people go to
Croatia by car or by bus and there are a lot of bus operators offering tours
to the country. Most of the tours go to the peninsula Istria in the northern
part of Croatia, which is only about 1600 kilometres from Denmark. In Istria
you will find many historical and famous travel destinations, such as Pula,
Opatija, Porec and Rovinj. Danish bus operators also offer trips to Krk, the
largest island in the Adriatic Sea and the beautiful islands Cres and Rab
somewhat further south. - Croatia has something
to offer everybody, regardless of whether they are interested in sunbathing,
adventure, nature, music, art and theatre or good food and wine in a pleasant
climate. We notice that the interest in Croatia as a travel destination
grows. And most of our customers find the bus tours to Croatia both
interesting and relaxing, says Peder Rønholt, Managing Director, BestTravel. Dario Matosevic, head of
the Croatian tourist office in Scandinavia, estimates that the amount of
Danish tourists in Croatia will increase in the year to come. - I believe that
approximately 40 000 people from Denmark will travel to Croatia on holiday
this year. The more people see how beautiful the country is and what it has
to offer, the more popular Croatia will become as a travel destination, he
says. For those who do not want
to go by car or bus, flying is an alternative. During the period May-September
2002, the travel agency Mannon Rejser offers charter trips from Copenhagen
and Billund to Dubrovnik. Adria Airways offers flight trips from Copenhagen
to Ljubljana twice a week. Busses and flights are leaving from Ljubljana to
Zagreb and other parts of Croatia. For more information visit www.visitcroatia.nu
